Apparently the extra width gives about 10% less aero drag*.
Absolute worst-case scenario where that was the ONLY range factor, adding that drag back by narrowing it for EU-approval would still mean a 900 mile range:
100kWh: 900mi (1,448km)
25kWh: 225mi (over FIVE TIMES the US avg. daily drive)
It would still recharge faster than ANY other car, at 36mi/day on solar, 117 miles overnight from a wall outlet, 56 miles per hour** on L2, & 450 miles per hour at its tiny 50kW DC limit.
* Aptera FAQ says the extra-wide front track reduced drag by "more than 10%" (lines 417 & 420 at time of writing. Line numbers change when they delete lines above as they've done before.)
**28 miles per hour IF it ends up with a half-sized 3.3kW limit, but that's still faster than any other car.
