The Aptera Forum
In the beginning they mentioned delivered And believe in the ordering process it stated “Delivered“ if I recall...
At once they mentioned a possible discount to pick up, but all to be worked out
I just found a cool new job opportunity. I pick up new Apteras in San Diego and drive them across the country...
That might eat up the buyer’s
7 day / 1000 mi trial period😉
But it would be a sweet job!
I've never taken a cross-country train trip so here's my plan: If the delivery cost is less than the Amtrak fare, I'll go with delivery. If the Amtrak fare is lower than the delivery fee, I'll make the 80-hour, 3-day trip to San Diego - and spend the 7-day/1000 mile return period visiting friends in CA. Either way, it's gonna be an adventure!
I'll most likely Fly to California to pick it up and drive home to Colorado with scenic vacation stops along the way. By the time I arrive to my home, I'll be able to report back on it's camping and dirt road performance as well as hill climbing and downhill recharging after driving a few high elevation passes such as Eisenhower and Vail on I-70. (11,158 ft & 10,666 ft elevation)
Me too Kerbe,
It's a crazy but wonderful waste of time, Seattle to San Diego by train, but to travel to the factory in a nineteenth century transporter and return home in a twenty-first century seems only appropriate.
Just got an official response: Delivery is still in the plans, "no exact details on timing just yet but stay tuned!" My email to them was specific to Hawaii deliveries, but if those are in the cards it's safe to assume all other states are also.
I live within one charge distance to the factory...so I'll want to take a bus or something and drive it home myself. Harder for you.
I suppose if they let you pick it up in San Diego, you could drive it home to Hawaii, but you'd have to cross that bridge when you came to it.
My specific delivery zip code is 96815. Counting on plenty Sun in the Aloha State to run Aptera circle island many times. 😎
If you have the time it would be fun to do a road trip from the factory to your home. Especially if there is a delivery fee that will be waived if picking up from San Diego.
It will be nice to anything post pandemic, but nice adventure!🤠
Got my first vaccination ... baby steps😉
My second is in two weeks!
🥳 Stay safe!
At production volume, that's about 40 cars per day. Given a little bit of "friction" in getting cars to buyers, they'll need room to park, say 10 days, or 400 cars. On the plus side, if they leave the cars in a parking lot outdoors, they'll be fully charged from the solar panels when you come to get it.
On the order I read "free shipping"
Yes Price includes shipping but no specifics HOW
There were conversions about a savings (?) if picked up at the factory but then again... No real details yet
I'm hoping for giant electric drones - or flatbed trailers pulled by teams of unicorns!
They could established 4 or 6 distribution 'hubs' or 'pick-up stations' logistically placed across the country where Aptera by the truckload (ordered in that region) could be deposited for pick-up. This should put owners less than 500 miles max for pickup.
@Stu Ostler What, you've got something against giant electric drones? 🤣
@Kerbe #12705 not at all - But I want to ride inside my Aptera as it flies to my home
@Stu Ostler Then be sure to NOT select the "Flatbed pulled by a team of unicorns" option!
