I had contacted WeatherTech and asked how they decide to offer which model car’s floor mats and cargo liners.
They advisedzzz based on number of queries so, I guess when Aptera production begins we will have to “put a buzz in their ear?“
As they might invest in laser tooling for a justified volume.
Their Made In America products seem robust. I think their easy to clean floor mats would work well in my dirty environment.
🤔 Since the Aptera is weight sensitive... I might consider/ be lightweight responsible with a compact “use as needed” liner like this....
... For my occasional <300# cargo uses like recycling and gardening etc... Assuming the one if these larger sizes make sense
Hey for those folks that had worries about security in the cargo area with the non solar hatch... This liner could double as a means to obscure “your stuff“ too
I love my WeatherTech mats and trunk liner!
Does your cargo liner weigh much? Which I assume may be 50% of the large Aptera cargo area???
( Chris mentioned 1% range hit for every 30# added to an Aptera???)
No more than the rear-seat mats - and Clarity has a large, multi-level trunk...
Thanks
Thanks
When I get my Aptera, I can run it over to WeatherTech's office and see if they can scan the car. I'm not sure there will be enough volume for them to tool up, but it's a start. I have their mats in all my cars except one.
I am more concerned about protection for the interior as setting out int the sun to charge could destroy the interior over time.
The sun will destroy almost any material over time. Just hope the renewable and biodegradable eco friendly interior will last a few years.
@David Marlow I recall the story of Olympic Gold Medal winner's mom who was so proud of her child's achievement that she had the award bronzed.
The plastic layer in laminated automotive glass blocks up to 96% of UV radiation, that which is most harmful to interior materials. EVs are starting to ship with laminated side glass - not just windshields - because it's also sound-deadening.
