Hi guys, and welcome back. Two brief thoughts. This time around...
1) Make and sell something, anything! at any price even! Just, for heavens sake, no more pie-in-the-sky dreams. Build a limited number, sell them for a profit. Use that profit to build more, sell them. Repeat. Be able to point to a real honest-to-goodness product available NOW and of reasonable quality. Tesla started with one rebodied Lotus roadster, but it was real, it was desirable, and it led to much more.
2) Keep control of your own company this time around. Don’t let some other Detroit “car guy” slick talk his way in, steal your idea, then trash it and turn it into a prolonged vaporware finance scam to pad his own bank account.
Last time around, I sent in my $$$ for a reservation. I believed in your ideas. I hope you all change the world. Good luck.
Good post Jeff. I put $$$ in too but was sad to see the dream go poof! Hope they make a good go of it this time.
Totally agree. I was quite upset to see how the old Aptera design kept getting changed (which caused more delays and increased cost). They had the mold, prototype and basic design which I loved. I would have bought an original or even a kit I liked it that much. It was horrible to see such a innovative design get so poorly managed and then destroyed.
If they can stay focused on the original intent, keep it lean, bring it to market with existing technology (which is incredible compared to the early 2000's) they might just make it this go around. If they want to reinvent the wheel, add a bunch of creature comforts, make it so car like, cater to every idea of the mass market, I am afraid it will never get to production.
