As we read the Aptera’s two-seater, three-wheel, 100% electric roadster-styled vehicle is an autocycle by many state definitions. And registered as a motorcycle in most states.
This is my case in ARIZONA:
I got this answer, via an online chat with Arizona’s ADOT regarding registering the Aptera here, after sharing Aptera website description of the Aptera:
✅ Yes Aptera should qualify for all the ADOT “ Alternative Fuel “ Vehicle Incentives*
✖️No 😔Arizona does not make their special Clean Air - “ Blue Skies “ Alternative Fuel license plate in the motorcycle size plate ( they only make car/truck size plates)
After reading this I was concerned... Well then how will my Aptera be “tagged” as an Alternative Fuel vehicle, which would be clear to Law Enforcement / MV when I am on the road using the HOV lane with only one person, using a carpool space, etc?.
ADOT clarified:
✅😁 When you get the vehicle registered you we will give you an “Alternative Fuel Sticker” that you can put on your standard motorcycle license plate. With that sticker you will still get the incentives. *

Do you have a similar program system in your state? Or do you have Alternative Fuel license plates for cars, trucks, motorcycles, autocycles, etc?
My state when you register an electric vehicle you get a big HOV sticker which can be anywhere on the back of the car. In any case motorcycles are automatically allowed in HOV lanes. So either way, they would not pull your over in the HOV lanes. I think the law in general is arcane about a car being defined as having at least four wheels. It's actually not good for people, because technically Aptera would not need to provide even seat belts, if it's a motorcycle. They could make a car for a few thousand dollars more than the cost of the batteries.
Thx for this sharing Some queetions if you care to answer

Do you believe the Aptera meets your state’s statute for autocycle but registered as a motorcycle (like in mine state)?
Aptera doesn't look/ feel like a motorcycle and may “ initially” be “questioned” as to
“ What are you?” 🤔👮♂️
Let me check out the “vehicle” license, call in the the license plate number, before I stop and ask for your registration.
”Initially“an officier may be curious
The two states I lived in also had mobile MV checks , that did spot checks. Although I never had an encounter with them . Emissions are not an issue!
( I was glad to get, at least in my on line chat, after sharing Aptera site details.... the chat reply in writing. Granted my replies are just ADOT agents answer(s) So if I got stopped I can point to that ✅reply, the ✅AZ statute for an autoclycle and its three wheels, ✅my motorcycle registration, ✅Alternative Fuel sticker on my motorcycle license plate (while in a carpool space/HOV lane)
Time will tell
I will surely have a coversation with my friend/retired Officer at a later date for his “take” from the states he serviced
It would be easier with ab Aptera and its credentials to gave that conversation.

And your state is ?
3
Are motorcycles allowed in a carpool space in your space?
4
Does your state have incentives for an “alternative fuel motorcycle”?
Thanks again!
