With that volume of early pre-orders and assuredly more to come. They are going to need a bigger factory. And maybe rethink their production plans. Toyota underestimated the number of people that would want their early Prius Hybrid. But it was cool having one of the early ones and then slowly encounter fellow Prius's driving around. My 2001 Prius is still running and it is very rare to encounter one of the early models. I hope Aptera can keep up with the early demand of the Aptera.
The Aptera Forum
How many miles on your first gen Prius and what major repairs have been done? Interested. Where I live, I see them a few times a yr.
They did ask us “if we knew of a plant in the Area... Let them know?”
They are based in San Diego
Many more miles on that Prius!
My Aptera could be my “finale car“ in retirement
@Gordon you have made me sadly remember the loss of my 2001 Prius... lost to a hungry mouse eating the insulation off the wiring harness. 🐭
@Daniel, my car had 230,000 miles on it at the time of its demise, having needed only one motive battery pack replacement, tires, 12V battery, and oil changes during its life.
I'm hoping Aptera can improve on those numbers, given 20 years of technology improvements.
I hear this too often and more so in my present rural living
I asked my electrician why do rodents like wires...”He said”(?) animal fat is used in the formula of the wire sheathing*😋
I always felt they just like to chew!
Invent a rodent resistant wire covering and you will be ❤️ and a wealthy person
🤔Job security for the electrician that invented the *covering???
Mine is only at 212515. I have replaced the traction battery. The body is looking a bit worse for wear, due to an encounter with some road debris (truck tire). Engine check light is on due to running too lean. And battery pack throws and alert if I don't drive it for two weeks.
Well here ya go

@Len We had issues, locally, with squirrels eating the cable equipment installed on utility poles: It seems the plastics used were derived from sugar cane waste...
@Gordon Niessen The thing to keep in mind is that $100 reservations don't always equate to purchases - and that they also don't generate the tens of millions of dollars necessary to start large-scale production. The Aptera is, after all, a niche vehicle...
I have faith. I put $500 down last time and at least got it back. I am also investing in them. So I am hoping for a win this time. I threw away $250 on a raffle for a Tesla and lost. This seems like a better investment. And a way cooler car.
