There will be either 3 or 4 levels of regen braking.
I'm pretty sure I saw an official Aptera listing of "4 levels, from off through strong". I remember "4" because that's like a eGolf except that its level 4 is still a bit weaker than I'd like in some situations, even though it does bring it to a stop eventually. Also, I don't think eGolf has "off" (like coasting in N).
Hub motors have more efficient regen since there's no loss from a non-hub motor's transmission gears*, differential, & 4 CV joints.
*Even with only one speed, there are still gears with a non-hub motor.
