We had a fantastic turnout for the Q&A following our recent launch. Thanks to the 600+ of you who joined the Zoom call (wow!) As promised, here is a document summarizing all of the questions asked with answers from the Aptera team. If you can't find what you are looking for, please submit a new question using the link in the spreadsheet. If you need further assistance, you can reach us by email at info@aptera.us.
Thank you!
Your friends at Aptera
How do I find out about the next Zoom event?
Just press that green button at the bottom of this page named "Get Updates" and give them your email address.
All some wanted for Christmas....
You all rock!
And to all a good night😉
Thanks, very nice of you to put all the questions on a spreadsheet for us readers.
What are the dimensions size? Width length hieght?
All ancient news on their sites but don’t expect changes?????
Love this...Great job.
Aptera's FAQ Spreadsheet has 160 new answers since the last time I looked, starting at line 222
When will we be able to buy it I live on Long Island, NY suffolk county
the biggest question, as with all EVs, is where are they getting the batteries. it would be nice for us reservation holders to know this. i hope they finalize this parameter soon and let us know.
I asked the question that everyone wants to know when can I buy one???????????????
The above link will allow you to place a reservation at $30 off the $100 refundable reservation cost
Or is this just a pipe dream???????????????
Gordon, there are a lot of committed people working on this. Chris Anthony has already brought another company he founded - a lithium battery company, through an IPO. He has a very successful record of fundraising for companies - over 100 million dollars. I watched the Tesla start closely, and Aptera is far ahead of where they were at the same stage. I think this is going to happen.
@n.bruce.nelson I hope you are correct because I want one!
Can someone tell me why people feel that "the biggest question, as with all EVs, is where are they getting the batteries."
I would like to drive one home to Washington DC for my 78th birthday Feb. 2022
Are these actually going to be built? Do they have regenerative breaking? Has anyone here touched, sat in or driven this machine? There are rough uneven patches of interstate and city streets: How does the suspension handle these? What is the handling, stability characteristics of the three wheel design? Is this a round town type or would someone actually take it on a road trip of 1,000 miles plus?
Very good questions. Some of the same questions have been discussed previously in this forum, but you seem to have focused on some key issues. Aptera is at a point of development much like the Elio, when it died. Aptera has one prototype and no production examples from what I gather. The data on the car is selectively stated and much of it are "works in progress" or estimated guesses. Even though many have quoted details on the car, in actuality, no one has test driven one for long ranges. But we are all supportive of the mission and see this EV motorcycle as a desired option. My own personal guess is that this will certainly fill a niche EV gap. If one can see having a 2 seater motorcycle with limited payload capacity then that is the first major question. I personally see this as a city car, but many have plans for long range. This is going to be very subjective, for there are so many who will compromise certain creature comforts to have an budget friendly car with an amazing "wow" factor. Bragging rights of 1,000 mile range, self-charging, solar, and 3.7 seconds 0-60 mph time are not really important for me, nor fit into my style of driving. We have some local HD cruiser and Gull Wing clubs who do long distant weekend trips. Personally, not my cup of tea. My road trips are broken up so that I can stretch and use the bathroom. Otherwise, I fly. In other words, to each, his own. We will need to see if this second attempt to launch the project is successful, which as a group we all hope for.
Yes. Yes. A few people. You will have to try one to decide if the suspension is comfortable enough for you; I anticipate it will be as comfortable as our Prius if not better. Very stable. We prefer to drive over flying and so plan on many short, some longer, and a few very long trips. Eliminating fossil fuels from our driving is a big goal, and tripling the efficiency of the best EV on the road today makes it most desirable.
@Jerry McIntire agreed. I currently do not own a car. I drive for a living. My next vehicle must be EV and this platform is seductive. do I go for a used Tesla or a new KIA or Hyundai, or? Whatever it is going to be driven, it will be fun, sexy. I team drive 5-6,000 miles per week my car must have a fun factor. This is why I made the deposit but I am also considering a new lease.
Well there are over 8000 of us with reservations, so if not many will be heartbroken
Yes adjustable regenerative braking is planned
Well the Aptera staff has been testing and driving the first development vehicle ( Noir ) , which you see on this website
The Pandemic has prevent early “touching” beyond that I imagine
Two more development vehicles being fitted now
Dev vehicle being tested
There will be an Off Road option for snow and some off road situations
I plan to eventually take the Aptera I reserved cross country???
Handling should be good

@Len thanks Len. I am all in
Thank you both
@OceanDragon I believe the tax credit extension is "only" $7,000 on Tesla & , since they've already passed the 200,000 sales threshold.
When towing (no trailer)...could there be a possibility of regen to charge when towing?
I think some other EVs can do that, but with this vehicle, the only way I see towing it is to lift the two front wheels and at best you'd get partial regen charging only if you had the three motor config (rear wheel is the only one left on the ground turning).
Regen from an EV being towed, will add drag to the towing vehicle. So you'd lose out everywhere except long steep downhills.
The more I think about this vehicle I've started to believe it has come to late in my life. I had hoped I might make a cross Canada again but the timing and my age is running against me. I will however keep following the Aptrea with hopes it will arrive quicker than it looks at this time.
@xanderstewart55 May you keep your health and have many great drives yet to come
Us seniors ᕕ( ಠ‿ಠ)ᕗ need to have hopes/things to keep us going/ dreaming.
If I can leave for my kids/ someone...it would still “ keep me” 😁
I do plan on following the progress and if the timing is right I will make the jump.
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area that has a very specific meaning. Wear your water wings.
