Can the suspension and steering be rigged to only require a single arm from the body to the wheel pod? This could be achieved by one of the wishbones making a hard U shape and being lined up with the other straight wishbone (or some combination of, or two L shaped, ect). When I draw this out it does require the single arm to be a little thicker, and the wheel pod a little wider but it seems do-able. Given the vehicles light weight the U shaped wishbone would be easy to implement from a strength perspective. I think the weight penalty of the sub-optimal mechanical geometry would be worth it given the reduced drag. The aesthetics will also improve with a cleaner looking product.
I don't have mechanical training. Roast me. : )
It would make some more weight and ad some bulk, but I would be worried about time and effort it would take. I would love to see that machine in production rather than reiterated to the absolute perfection and delay the start of production.
That would be a fundamental change in suspension design going from upper and lower a-arms to something looking like McPherson struts.
