1) When they restarted their present design, based on lower interested from their old 2e model (~2009).., they did not design in, BUT...
2) They may re-consider to redesign in, after production starts, but on lower end models. E.g. small battery (range (packs) allow for better opportunity to design a small seat area *behind the seats. Some of the present longer range models have batteries that will also occupy that space*
I would say to just stay away from the 100kWh version if you're looking to get the third seat option. And we should be in the EU and Australia within six months of starting deliveries everywhere else. We will try for sooner, but paperwork for compliance stuff is THICK and usually not quick... But I know we have a lot of interest in your area of the world so we want to get there QUICK and eventually have an assembly plant there ;)
What I would love to see is a bench seat in front. A long time ago I read an article (https://business.time.com/2013/08/16/check-out-the-car-custom-designed-for-millennials-by-millennials/) stating that Millenials and younger generations may be willing to give bench seats a try.
I think bench seats are fun. You kind of roll around on them when you take a corner... its makes driving more involving. And sometimes I might actually convince my wife to sit next to me :)
It would be pretty nice for busy families with two working parents and two kids. One parent could still do a dual kid pick-up...
Any chance to fit in a set of foldable seats in the back, like in an S10 extended cab, next to the 3 seater bench in the front?
I love the minimal thinking of the current form, yet would like to [legally] carry some extra passengers/kids on short runs when needed, in a 2+3 format.
I hear “no, at this time” But in the future they can assess perhaps with the 250 mile range model as their may be more possibles around the battery storage area.
Daniel,

maybe laws will be more easy-going for child/baby seat?
