Not sure if anyone has mentioned this. I couldn’t find anything in the search but Lew Later did a small segment on Aptera back in Dec 2020 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0upghdeZAc).

Anyone know if he’s gotten in touch with Aptera? Getting him to review the car when it’s available could be a big deal since his Unbox Therapy channel has over 18M subs and he mentions in the video he’s open to reviewing it.

I forwarded your thread over to Aptera’s Media email… You never know?

BTW under the Website’s Contact Us there is a list of emails to focus questions like this, as Aptera may not be reading the forum threads regularly

Sounds like some low hanging fruit to take advantage of especially if he is familiar with Aptera already.

MI could solicit him for a crowd funding donation to p[ay for my Aptera ????

Worth the effort. He does have a suitable audience.

… and he expressed Aptera’s emphasis on first principles. Where he was off-base in his description was he suggested it was small and therefore dangerous when sharing the road with 18-wheelers.

As we know, the Aptera appears smaller than it is but it is enormous compared to say, a Smart car.

Beyond that, the rollover results of the 2008 Aptera monocoque were multiples of strength beyond the requirements suggesting you might well be better off in the Aptera over say a SUV if circumstances put you under the rear-axle of a semi-trailer.

You forgot Transportation evolved which I understand is a reservation holder and eager to get and use an Aptera and has actually ridden in one 🙂

I think that Aptera fans can be cool in responding critically on the public comments from these media about the inevitable reviews of EVs like the Hummer or Lightening based on their EPA MPGe rating. In this commentary I would not mention Aptera but rather just push the idea of the first principle of efficiency.

While noting a failure of many vehicles on that principle, I would concede that in specific applications remote construction, vehicles in this segment are suited for the task. But the pickup truck – even an EV pickup – fails on the grounds of gross inefficiency in personal transportation. It fails on the first principle of efficiency.

And we all know we need to promote real efficiency; particularly in personal transportation; particularly in suburban and exurban locales where distances for necessary travel are greater than in the most urbanized places.

im no aptera historian but this car was part of futurism talk from some time mid 2000s or 90s and it failed trying to make 2 seater then 4 seater, then comes back recently with the same hard to sell concept and it seems like its going to finally actually start going big, and if i remember right, the original starters were around at aptera the whole time there was also the weird time where they demolished old chassis after liquidating apparently “just for fun” or whatever.

so… does it count as a madlad story? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOKv5UaZ1_w his video kinda popular and he did one on gert postel which wasnt as crazy as the average other video but fun nonetheless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdgL393yVuw&list=PLBXe9k4p6_tUI5AbzeBVc_w17LFi6pFDQ&index=67
