Aptera Expands into New Assembly Location

Aptera Motors Moves into First California Assembly Location

—Steady Progress towards Production for Efficient Zero-Emission Vehicle—

San Diego, CA, November 4, 2021 Aptera Motors, maker of the world’s most efficient solar electric vehicles, has signed a lease on its first final assembly location in Carlsbad, California. The 77,147 square foot facility will be the first of many micro-factories strategically placed in locations around the world to build and service Aptera’s growing fleet. The facility will be complemented by two additional spaces of 16,000 square feet and 8,000 square feet nearby for beta development, R&D and solar composite manufacturing.

For Co-CEO Steve Fambro, it’s a natural next step in the company’s growth and a tribute to our San Diego roots. “I started Aptera out of my garage in North County. I’m proud to be back in the community that supported our launch and employ talented people who are working towards a common goal of changing the world through more efficient transportation.”

One of the key drivers behind the location selection and strategic manufacturing plan is Pablo Ucar, Aptera’s Vice President of Production and Procurement. Drawing upon his experience at SpaceX and Faraday Futures, Pablo has made significant progress in signing supplier agreements that will provide parts in 2022 at a greater scale than anticipated.

“We’ll start by producing our first few hundred vehicles, our Paradigm Editions,” says Pablo. “As our supply chain becomes more established, we’ll ramp to 250 per month, and eventually reach our target of producing 40 vehicles per day. To support this demand, we’re predicting growth of our manufacturing and engineering staff by 3-5x over the next three years.”

Bringing these eco-friendly products to market quickly is critical as California moves to achieve a goal of five million Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) on the road by 2025. While the benefits to the planet are clear, the benefits to Aptera owners are also significant.

  • 100 Watt hours per mile- the most efficient vehicle on the planet
  • 2.4 square meters of solar panels for up to 40 miles of driving off the grid per day
  • Safe and lightweight design, only six major structural body parts

Says Chris Anthony, Co-CEO, “It’s all coming together! Over the coming months, we will be completing our Beta vehicles, validating our production parts, and moving into testing and certification. We have over 13,000 customers on our reservation list, and our engineering team is working around the clock with a goal to begin delivering vehicles in 2022.”

The move to a new facility comes on the heels of a successful Regulation A+ fundraising campaign that has generated $28 million in capital for Aptera at a valuation of $500 million. They are hoping to have a public offering in the next 9-18 months to provide additional capital for expansion.

About Aptera Motors

Aptera Motors delivers the world’s most technologically advanced solar electric vehicles (sEVs), made possible by breakthroughs in battery efficiency, aerodynamics, material science, and manufacturing. A lightweight three-wheeler, Aptera is the first in a series of eco-friendly vehicles that will be offered for consumer and commercial use. It has the longest range of any production vehicle with 1,000 miles per charge and the ability to travel up to 40 miles a day on free power from its integrated solar panels. With only six key structural parts, Aptera’s unique body shape allows it to slip through the air using far less energy than other electric and hybrid vehicles on the road today.
